The Ashley Hundred had got in touch with me about designing the packaging for their upcoming self titled album and the 2 singles that would be put out before the entire release as a whole. They had their cover artwork completed by artist Salome Iljana Koller (who created the imagery for their previous single “Falling Up”) for their new album and needed other elements to carry over in consistency of theme over onto both CD’s and vinyl.
What I thought was important was to try and feature the intricate details of Salome’s beautiful work on some of the other surfaces, initially it was the illustrated leaves that I was taken by. That imagery helped drive the rest of the packaging and the 2 single’s “Lonely Love” and “Mirage Mirage” where I chose to focus on the up close elements of line work, water and plant nature existing within the original cover to speak the visual theme.
Each of those elements collectively communicated an image and sense of wild calm yet complex eclectic makeup. Something that well reflects The Ashley Hundred’s musical aesthetic in short through their discography.
